    Suspension, Steering & Alignment: what the visit covers

    Shock and strut replacement

    Worn dampers let axles hop, which cups tires and beats up bushings. Replacement is done in pairs so the axle behaves consistently.

    Leaf spring and bushing service

    Cracked leaves, collapsed bushings, and worn shackles are replaced to restore ride height. Loaded vehicles sitting low is the usual first symptom.

    Tie rod, ball joint, and king pin service

    Play is measured at each joint before parts are quoted. King pins on heavy units are measured against the manufacturer limit with a gauge, not by feel.

    Four-wheel computer alignment

    Alignment is set on Hunter equipment with before and after readings printed for the file. Toe out of spec by a fraction of a degree scrubs tread off a steer tire fast.

    Steering linkage inspection

    Drag link, pitman arm, steering box, and damper are inspected for play and leaks. A wandering unit is a safety issue and a DOT finding.

    Ride height and load adjustment

    Air ride height and spring load are set to the loaded condition the vehicle actually runs. Correct height keeps geometry, driveline angle, and tire wear in line.

      Joints, bushings, springs, and dampers are replaced so alignment can actually hold.

      Four-wheel alignment is set to spec with before and after readings recorded.

      Road test and record

      The unit is road tested for pull and wander, and the readings are filed per VIN.
